Flawless by Sara Shepard

With all the thrilling messages from “A” in Sara Shepard’s book, Flawless, Hanna, Aria, Emily and Spencer are terrified. One night, Ali played a harmless trick on their neighbor Toby, when she was fooling around with fireworks. All she planned to do was light the garage on fire, but she accidentally shot it into Toby’s tree house when she saw Toby fooling around with Jenna. The rest if the girl weren’t totally into it, “I’ll do it. You can watch from here.” (7) They heard a BOOM! and then the sirens started getting closer and closer. Jenna came home a few days later, and the news spread that she had been blinded by the firework. The night of the accident, Ali told Toby she had seen what he was doing up in the tree house, and Toby took the blame for Jenna’s accident and didn’t return. Ali had given all the girls bracelets and they each repeated, “I promise not to tell, until the day I die.” (12) No one knew that in a few short hours Ali would disappear. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was very easy to get hooked with all the action and drama that goes on. It was slightly hard to keep track of all the different characters story because they are each talked about every few chapters with their own story, sometimes involving the rest of the girls too. I found that it was helpful to keep a log about what happened throughout each chapter.
