Coming home to District 12, it is a whole new place for Katniss in Catching Fire the sequel to the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Katniss is the winner of the hunger games and she lives in a new house in the victor’s village. However, being a winner might mean plenty of food, but it does not mean safety. Under pressure from president Snow, to calm any of the rebellion thoughts, Katniss has to go on the victory tour and convince everyone that she is in love with the other victor, Peeta. They are trying as hard as they can to put out any sparks of rebellion but right as they are leaving District Eight, an uprising starts. When they are heading into the justice building to get away from the rebellion, Katniss sees, “A pair of peacekeepers dragging the old man who whistled to the top of the steps. Forcing him to his knees before the crowd. And putting a bullet through his head” (62). They are taken away so they do not know anything and they are brought home. This year’s hunger games is just about here when president Snow announces the twist because it is the quarter quell and they do something interesting every twenty-five years. This is the Third quarter quell and the most intriguing so far. This book is extremely exciting and you always want to know what is coming next. There are many twists in the story, which makes for a thrilling read. This book is a dystopian novel and has a lot of action. It is a page turner and if you love action, Catching Fire is the book for you.

Really want to read the rest of this series.Loved the first, but couldn't get a hold of the second.
ReplyDeleteYa I have read the third too, and it keeps getting better! You should try and get them again, it is a really good series!
ReplyDeleteI loved Hunger Games and I am planning on reading this sequel. From what I have heard this book is outstanding and and is an amazing sequel. It sounds like Suzanne Collins has once again outdone herself!
ReplyDeleteI really need to check this series out! Everyone says it's an amazing series.
ReplyDeleteGreat summary too!
Catching fire is by far the best book in the series in my opinion. I hope they dont mess with the story to much in the movie
ReplyDeleteCATCHING FIRE!!! My favorite book in the whole wide world! (besides Mockingjay, which is the 3rd book of course). Suzanne Collins did a GREAT job fully expressing the characters emotions and making an exciting plot. But I especially LOVE how much foreshadowing Collins puts into this book. There are SO many little details she writes here and there that may appear confusing at first, but after you read Mockingjay you realize how much meaning Collins put into EVERY SINGLE sentence on every page.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Catching Fire quote:
Pg. 352 (when Katniss and Peeta are talking) "I feel that things again..."
Read that entire paragraph. This is HUGE foreshadowing. If you've already finished Mockingjay, you'll know what this "feeling" truly means because if appears again on the last page of Mockingjay.
on a final note...
