by, Patricia McCormick, Lakshmi is a twelve year old girl that lives in a small village of Nepal. When the rainy season washed away there crops there her family had no money and needed a way out. When a lady comes from the “big city” and offers Lakshmi a job, to work with her, Lakshmi decides to take her up on the offer and go with her to the city. After she arrives with to the big city she realizes she isn't going to work in a big house, witch she thought she was going to do, she arrives at a brothel. “But no matter how often I wash and scrub and wash and scrub, I cannot seen to rinse the men from my body” (129) Will she be able to repay her dept be for it to late? With all the questions going though your head you wont be able to put this book down! It is a every humbling book and would recommend it for any teenager.
