In A Battle Won, the adventures of Charles Hayden are continued. The book takes place during the French Revolution, and tells of a master and commander who is constantly faced with danger. Captain Hayden's battlefield is the sea and he is given orders to return to the notorious Themis. Hayden finds himself in control of a convoy when the senior officer's ship goes missing. Confronted with the disagreeing opinions of other officers, Hayden must double-check his plans before he makes a decision. When French frigates are sighted, Hayden must try at all costs to get his convoy to safety. Captain Hayden is always brave and wise throughout all his exploits.
