A Battle Won by S. Thomas Russel

In A Battle Won, the adventures of Charles Hayden are continued. The book takes place during the French Revolution, and tells of a master and commander who is constantly faced with danger. Captain Hayden's battlefield is the sea and he is given orders to return to the notorious Themis. Hayden finds himself in control of a convoy when the senior officer's ship goes missing. Confronted with the disagreeing opinions of other officers, Hayden must double-check his plans before he makes a decision. When French frigates are sighted, Hayden must try at all costs to get his convoy to safety. Captain Hayden is always brave and wise throughout all his exploits. Those who enjoy adventure and historical novels will love A Battle Won. Readers will literally be sitting on the edge of their seat as they turn each page, wondering what the outcome of the voyage will be. Captain Hayden is constantly in the midst of warfare, and one is described as, "It was a desperate fight, and the deck was sick with blood. Men fell all around, and soon they fought half-standing upon the bodies," (402) This book will exceed any expectations.
